My dissertation, Climate Solutions and Genre Politics in Contemporary Fiction, analyzes representations of climate change solutions in recent anglophone fiction. I explore how four categories of climate solutions (climate engineering, biodiversity work, care futures, and creative work) uniquely blend realistic and speculative genre conventions, producing a spectrum of genre rather than a discrete series of discourses. I refer to this discursive space as a “genre politics” that delineates new modes of engagement with literary representations of climate change and transforms how we discuss genre in literary studies.
